High Adventure
Scouting America High Adventure Bases are outdoor wilderness areas across the Nation that provide programs in canoeing, wilderness backpacking trips, and sailing. Participation in these programs is typically for older Scouts (13 and above depending on the program) due to the demanding physical and mental challenges. Troop 648 regularly sends crews to these bases each year. Troop 648 has a growing history of sending Scouts to high adventure camps. Below are some of the more recent high adventure treks.
Each of the four Scouting America High Adventure Bases are described below. Several other high adventure bases are also described below. More information is available on the NCAC website.
It is important to note that each crew will need trained adults. This usually means that each crew will need adults trained in CPR/AED and Wilderness First Aid. Individual training is offered in many ways and some require renewal every two years.
